Confrontation involving boy not an attempted abduction, Winnipeg police say

2 men killed in early morning crash in Miramichi

Winnipeg police said a confrontation involving an 11-year-old boy was not an attempted abduction.

The boy was walking in the area around Selkirk Avenue and Parr Street at around 3:25 p.m. Friday when he was confronted by a man.

The man tried to grab the boy and drag him away, police said in an earlier news release. The boy fought back and was able to break away and flee.

The following investigation showed that there was a confrontation, police said on Tuesday, but it was not an attempted abduction.
