Construction value of permits in North Huron year-to-date exceeds $1M

NORTH HURON – North Huron’s building department has issued a total of seven building permits so far this year, with a total construction value of $1,139,000.

Kirk Livingston, chief building official for North Huron, updated council regarding the building department’s activity for the first two months of the year on March 15.

Livingston’s report said seven permits were issued for the same timeframe in 2020, but the value was much lower ($670,000).

The values of the permits issued so far this year are:

self storage unit, $200,000;

alteration/renovation/repair, $50,000;

multi-unit residential, $550,000;

new residential dwelling, $80,000;

gas station canopy, $5,000;

alteration/renovation/repair, $4,000; and

agricultural - commercial office, $250,000.

Livingston reported that the department has also issued 13 zoning certificates, compared to nine last year.

Council receives reports from the chief building official bi-monthly to update them on the operations of the department.
