Despite Bethany's current challenges, Lucy has promised that the future will be positive for her character.
"I think she's going to cope really well," she told Inside Soap. "At the moment this is a huge, life-changing thing, and she's feeling bad about it.
"But as time goes on, she's going to realise that she can live a totally normal life, that everything can go back to the way it was before. She's not going to be restricted in anything she does just because she has a stoma bag."

Speaking about researching to storyline, Lucy explained: "I like to do storylines that raise awareness of topical issues, so from the acting side of things it was exciting.
"I knew what stoma bags were, but I had to do more research so I met with the charity Colostomy UK. I spoke to two girls who have stoma bags, and they told me their stories."
The star also opened up about some of the "really positive" feedback she has received from fans.
"I've mainly had messages from people who have stoma bags just to say they're happy it's being represented on something like Coronation Street, it makes people feel seen," she revealed.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
