Coronation Street star updates fans over nasty injury
Coronation Street star Tracie Bennett has updated fans after suffering a nasty hand injury.
The star, who played Sharon Gaskell on the ITV, soap revealed last month that she had a gruesome finger infection.
"Let’s count the hours from now of how long I’ll be in A&E with a seriously infected finger," she wrote on X/Twitter at the time. "Been on anti biotics since Monday but they haven’t worked. Ouch. Haven’t slept properly. Hoping it’s not long. Torture. Place your bets."
Update.
Ouch. Still healing. New pink (gammon) skin growing underneath the damage. Shame it doesn’t do that on my face. 🤣🤦♀️😜 pic.twitter.com/Oi1QSBljKn— @OfficialTracieBennett (@OfficialTracieB) December 9, 2024

She later confirmed she had to undergo surgery and that she "nearly lost" her finger, though was "doing fine" afterwards.
Tracie has now shared a new update with fans, posting a series of pictures of her injury on social media.
"Update. Ouch. Still healing," she wrote. "New pink (gammon) skin growing underneath the damage. Shame it doesn’t do that on my face."
The actor originally appeared on Corrie in the early 1980s, returning in 2021 in a storyline where she was revealed as the aunt of drug lord Harvey Gaskell.

After her departure three years ago, Tracie wrote on social media: "All just so I could say 'Ter Ra' at this very moment. Thanks to those who know what they did for me & to haters & lovers. We do our best for everyone. See you soon. ‘Av it."
Meanwhile, Tracie previously hit out at soap snobbery, telling Digital Spy and other media: "There is an actor, I can't tell you who it is but I found him 35 years after he did an interview and told him I'd remembered what he'd said: 'Soaps are alright, but I have to say it's not what I think acting is about'.
"And I thought: 'You try and do 20 scenes with suicide and alcoholism the same day, scene after scene with costume changes etc'. It's 22 scenes a day, full on about major issues, it was hard even back then and I was younger."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
