Coronation Street's Calum Lill reflects on tough scenes with soap legend
Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street star Calum Lill has reflected on his tough scenes with soap legend David Neilson.
Last Friday's (September 27) episode of the soap saw Lill's character Joel Deering fail to show up to his plea hearing, with the judge issuing a warrant for his arrest.
Later, a visibly drunk Joel locked himself into Roy's Rolls, where he expressed his "guilt" to Neilson's beloved character Roy Cropper – who was wrongly imprisoned for killing Lauren Bolton.
Joel apologised to Roy for being punished for his crimes, with Roy urging him to hand himself in to the police. However, Joel broke the café phone before Roy could ring for help.

Lill took to Instagram on Thursday (October 3) to post a smiling selfie of himself with Neilson, plus a hilarious snap of him wearing a 'Roy Cropper is Innocent' t-shirt.
He reflected on filming the tense scenes in the caption, which read: "Not gonna lie, having to be mean to the nation's sweet heart Roy Cropper was one of the hardest scenes I've had to act in! But David who plays Roy is incredible and what an honour to have gotten to work with him."
Fans quickly took to the comments section to praise Lill for his performance as the villainous Joel, with one writing: "We all know you aren't like Joel. You're a fine actor."
"You're both fantastic actors. Loved this scene. Love you both," another added, while a third commented: "A duo we never knew we needed."

A fourth fan echoed the sentiment: "Absolutely terrific work from both of you in that scene!" with another noting: "I don't think I would cope if I had to be mean to Roy Cropper."
Following his interaction with Roy in the café, Joel recorded a message for his ex-fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey, telling her that he still loves her. The camera then panned to reveal a large wound on his face.
This week, DS Swain unexpectedly announced Joel's death after unearthing some troubling evidence, although Dee-Dee seems to think that her ex has faked his demise and instead gone on the run.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
