Coronation Street's Summer receives fraud warning in tragic baby plot

Coronation Street spoilers follow from this week's episodes, which are available to watch now on ITVX. These episodes have not yet aired on TV, so this article contains storyline details that some viewers may wish to avoid.

Coronation Street's Summer Spellman receives a concerning warning tonight (November 28) as she keeps quiet about the tragic loss of her baby.

The pregnant teenager has struck a deal to hand over her child to newcomers Mike and Esther in exchange for money.

Summer and her boyfriend Aaron Sandford have already received a payment from the couple, and have used the cash to fund a stay in rehab for Aaron's alcoholic father Eric.

In Monday's episode, which is available to watch early on free streaming service ITVX, Summer makes further plans with Mike and Esther.

As Summer wants to hide her pregnancy from her family, she considers moving away from Weatherfield until after the baby is born.

Mike and Esther propose a different solution, promising that Summer can come and live with them.

Esther also reveals plans to send over the next payment sooner than planned.

Later, Summer is left devastated when she starts bleeding. She heads to the hospital with Aaron and the young couple are told that Summer has suffered a miscarriage.

This coincides with another upsetting event for Aaron, as Eric relapses again and it becomes clear that he'll need further treatment.

As Summer and Aaron reflect on the situation later on, Summer suggests that they could keep her miscarriage a secret and use the next batch of Mike and Esther's money to fund more rehab for Eric.

Aaron warns: "If we take that money, then it's fraud."

Summer replies: "No it's not, not really. We're only borrowing the money."

Aaron protests: "No, you're talking about another 10 grand here. We'd have no hope of paying that back. And even if we could, we're still lying to them."

Summer stands firm by insisting this is their only option if they want to prevent Eric from meeting a tragic end, but will she and Aaron regret their risky decision?

Coronation Street is releasing its episodes early on ITVX during the World Cup as the regular schedules on ITV1 are being disrupted by live football coverage.
