Coronavirus: Pregnant Carrie Symonds self-isolating after Boris Johnson tests positive for virus
Boris Johnson’s pregnant fiancee Carrie Symonds has been self-isolating separately from the Prime Minister for more than a week, according to reports.
Symonds, who is around six months pregnant, reportedly left Downing Street at least 10 days ago and is believed to be at the couple’s home in south London.
On Friday Johnson confirmed that he has tested positive for coronavirus after suffering from mild symptoms and is self-isolating in the flat above Number 11 Downing Street for the next seven days.
Official advice from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) says pregnant women fall into the group of vulnerable people urged to avoid contact with those who have symptoms of Covid-19.
But according to reports, Symonds is believed to have left Downing Street at least 10 days ago and has been self-isolating for more than a week.
Following the PM’s announcement, made via Twitter on Friday, his official spokesman was asked whether Johnson’s fiancee was also living in the couple’s Downing Street flat.

The spokesman said: “The Prime Minister of course follows all of the guidelines which have been issued by Public Health England in full.
“His circumstance is such that he will be required to self-isolate for seven days.”
On Saturday the Telegraph reported that Symonds had been self-isolating for more than a week and had reportedly posted a picture on her private Instagram account of herself cuddling the couple’s dog Dilyn, with the caption: “Self-isolating isn't so bad with this one”.
Telegraph commentator Camilla Tominey, a friend of Symonds, told ITV's This Morning: “She's in Camberwell with Dilyn the dog so she will not have any contact with the prime minister over the last few days.”
