Coroner names pedestrian struck and killed while trying to cross highway in Conway area
A 77-year-old woman died Saturday evening after she was struck by a vehicle in the Conway area.
Lena Godbolt, who lived in the Conway area, was struck about 8:15 p.m. on Highway 701 South and Sing Avenue in the Bucksport community, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard. She died at the scene.
Cpl. Nick Pye with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said that Godbolt was crossing the highway when she was struck and killed by a driver operating a 2016 Kia Sudan. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
SCHP is investigating the accident.
