This Could Be Good News...UK Contactless Payment To Increase From £20 to £30

For some, the arguments for and against contactless are still raging - for the rest of us, there is no looking back.

The only issue is that pesky £20 limit - sometimes those rounds at the pub don’t stay small enough.

Well, the limit is now going to be lifted for those using smartphones to pay combined with chip and pin technology.

The head of Contactless Payment at Barclaycard,Tami Hargreaves told the Independent: ‘Over the next year we expect the limit increase alongside the forthcoming launch of High Value Payments – where contactless transactions over £30 can be made using a mobile device combined with Chip and PIN authorisation – to drive this growth even further.

‘Ultimately, the uptake of contactless spending is a ‘win-win’ for consumers and businesses alike.’

The danger is now our monthly credit card bills may just get a little larger unless we’re careful…
