TEMAGAMI – Temagami council has accepted the resignation of Debby Renaud from the Temagami Non-Profit Housing Corporation board and endorsed the appointment of Phillip Jones to fill the vacancy.

The decision was made at council’s regular meeting on March 25.

Marianne Rinker, a project manager for the Temagami Non-Profit Housing Corporation (TNPHC), wrote a letter to the municipality on March 10 that explained that as a result of the recent resignations of both Sherry Larochelle and Renaud, the board had been searching for “a community-minded individual to fill the vacancy.”

Since the Temagami Non-Profit Housing Corporation is a municipal non-profit, it is considered a local board of the municipality.

“Our incorporating bylaw requires that the municipal council approve the appointment of any new board members to the TNPHC,” the letter reads.

“The board is recommending that Phillip Jones fill our board vacancy. In reviewing Phil’s resume, skills, interests and experience, we feel that his representation on our board will be an asset.”

The letter went on to request that if council approved the corporation’s request, that council also pass a resolution appointing Jones as a director on the board.
