These are the countries with the most bank holidays

A Labour government would create four new bank holidays for Britain if they win the General Election come June, Jeremy Corbyn announced this weekend.

The bank holidays would celebrate the patron saints days of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The last time the UK was granted an extra day off was in 1965, with the introduction of the August bank holiday.

The UK currently has eight bank holidays a year – the fewest of any EU or G20 country. It puts us on a par with Uzbekistan, the Netherlands and Hungary.

Mexico is the only country with fewer days off, with workers getting by on a measly seven.

The UK lags far behind the countries with the most bank holidays. India and Colombia top the table with 18 apiece.
