Couple displaced after heavy fire burns through Tacoma home on Thursday
A fire in Tacoma burned through a home Thursday night, displacing a couple.
Firefighters were dispatched at 5:35 p.m. to the 1800 block of North Union Avenue for a house fire. The fire started in the kitchen and spread upstairs, Tacoma Fire spokesperson Chelsea Shepherd told The News Tribune.
The fire caused significant damage to the home, Shepherd said. It took extra time for firefighters to put out the flames and extinguish hot spots. No one was at home at the time of the fire.
One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was check out by medical personnel.
Shepherd said the fire originated in the kitchen and it might have started from an electrical malfunction.
