When amateur photographer and Reddit user JTran1 snapped a photo of a couple’s proposal in New York City, there wasn’t any certainty that the two strangers would ever see the picture.

On Tuesday, the Reddit user uploaded the photo of the couple standing in the middle of a heart made with candles and flower petals with the Brooklyn Bridge behind them and said, “To the newly engaged couple – I hope this picture finds you! Congratulations!”

And through the magic of the internet, in just hours, the man pictured alongside his fiancé responded to the post.

“I cant believe this! This is my engagement! I can’t wait to show her this thank you reddit!” he said.

JTran1 was able to confirm that the woman holding the bouquet of flowers in the photo got in touch and was able to identify herself. The Reddit user also said there were more photographs and has since sent them to the couple.

JTran1 also shared more tidbits about the newly viral photo on Reddit. The user said there was a candle-lit runway with friends and family off to the side and the bouquet was a collection of roses handed off by each person.
