COVID-19 in Sask: 19 new cases, 6 in Saskatoon connected to Brandt Industries

Nineteen new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan were announced Friday. Twelve are in the Saskatoon area, three are in the central west zone and four are in the Regina area.

Of the 12 new cases in the Saskatoon area, six are connected to Brandt Industries. The company has a manufacturing facility in the city.

There are now 113 known active cases in the province. Fifteen more people have recovered.

Saskatoon has been the province's COVID-19 hot spot in the province for weeks.

On Friday, more than half the province's active cases — 61 — were in the city and area.

Five people are in hospital receiving inpatient care in Saskatoon.

Province-wide, 1,776 cases of COVID-19 have been reported since March and 1,639 people have recovered.

Also on Friday, a federal COVID-19 phone app to help contact people who may have crossed paths with an infected person became active in Saskatchewan.

The government says it's completely voluntary and no personal information is shared.
