ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Some children in Newfoundland and Labrador are getting their COVID-19 vaccines earlier than expected.
A clinic in St. John's is offering the vaccine until 7 p.m. this evening for children aged between five and 11.
Eastern Health spokeswoman Gina MacArthur says the agency had thought the first clinics would open Saturday, but she says the vaccine arrived earlier than expected.
Parents need to go online or call to book appointments for the vaccination of their children.
Eastern Health is working with schools in the region to finalize dates for school clinics.
Health officials are recommending that people get vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 14 days after receiving another vaccine, such as the flu shot.
