A major teaching hospital has been forced to tell all patients waiting for routine operations over the next two weeks to stay away after a “dramatic increase” in coronavirus admissions.

Meanwhile Boris Johnson has said he "shares people's frustrations" following fresh calls for an overhaul of the government’s floundering test and trace service.

And chancellor Rishi Sunak has unveiled new support for firms who have seen their trade drop due to coronavirus restrictions in tier 2 “high” risk areas of England.
