Drivers have been warned of up to 30 minute delays on the A12 southbound between J17 Great Baddow and J16 West Hanningfield just before 07:00 GMT.

One lane has since reopened according to Essex Police but motorists have been warned of eight miles (12.8km) of congestion.

An Essex Police spokesperson also said a barrier has been damaged in the single vehicle crash. East of England Ambulance Service has arrived at the scene.
