Crash at notorious SLO County intersection leaves horse with possible injuries
A crash at one of San Luis Obispo County’s deadliest intersections left a horse with possible injuries Thursday night.
Around 9 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers responded to a crash involving a pick-up and another truck pulling a horse trailer at Wellsona Road and Highway 101 — an intersection that has seen eight fatalities in the last decade.
The truck and trailer pulled across the highway in front of the second truck, causing it to collide with the side of the horse trailer, according to a CHP news release.
Though the drivers sustained minor to no injuries, CHP reported Friday morning that one horse was in the trailer and sustained “possible” injuries due to the crash.
The extent of the injuries were not yet clear.
Drugs and alcohol were not determined to be a factor. The crash is under investigation.
