Crash sends 2 Winnipeg police officers to hospital

Two Winnipeg police officers and one other person were injured in a crash on Thursday night.

The two-vehicle collision, which involved a police cruiser, happened at about 7:45 p.m. CT at Regent Avenue and Lagimodiere Boulevard.

Police were heading westbound on Regent on their way to a "high-priority domestic incident" when the cruiser car and a southbound vehicle on Lagimodiere collided, Const. Jay Murray said.

The officers were taken to hospital in stable condition and have since been released.

The driver in the other vehicle was also sent to hospital in stable condition with minor injuries. It's unclear how many passengers were in that vehicle. Murray said there may have been "two passengers in addition to the driver, but that hasn't been confirmed."

Police initially said no one in the other vehicle was injured.

The crash is being investigated.
