Crews calm large house fire in northwest Regina

A blaze that fully engulfed a duplex in the northwest corner of Regina now appears to be under control.

Fire crews rushed to fight the fire at the multi-unit home on Markwell Drive Wednesday morning.

Multiple fire trucks and first responders are still at the scene as heavy black smoke hangs in the area.

According to a CBC reporter at the scene, the house was fully engulfed in flames at one point but the fire now appears to be under control.

The house caught fire amid high winds, which are affecting many parts of Saskatchewan.

Regina is currently under a wind warning from Environment Canada, with gusts that experts say could cause damage.

These winds are forecast to peak between 70 and 90 kilometres per hour, diminishing slightly later in the afternoon.

There is no word on injuries or damage at this time.
