Child porn charges against a Saskatoon man were withdrawn by the Saskatoon Crown prosecution’s office.

John P. Malsi, 22, had an appearance scheduled on Feb. 1 in Saskatoon Provincial Court and two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of distributing child pornography were withdrawn.

Malsi was arrested and charged last year after the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit searched his Saskatoon home June 18. They seized two cell phones for further forensic analysis.

The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is made up of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. They investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
