This Crystal-Studded Runway Hair Is the Beauty Alternative to a Tennis Bracelet

This season, Markus Lupfer left no stone unturned when it came to the details of his London Fashion Week collection. And in addition to his floral-jacquard suits and ribbon-tied faux fur heels, the designer’s decadent touch extended to the decidedly ’90s center parts of his tartan-clad models.

Playing off the linear, collarbone-grazing earrings dangling from the ears, backstage, hairstylist Tina Outen smoothed each girl’s pin-straight lengths behind the shoulder, then meticulously encrusted the middle-parted look with a stripe of diamanté crystals down the center. The overall look was a lesson in the rich rewards of perfectly calibrated accessorizing. But for those who take a more pared-back approach to jewelry, worn alone, the sparkling parting functions as an edgy alternative to a diamond tennis bracelet: still delicate and elegant, but with a hint of subversion. Downtown girls, take note.
