CSI fans are thrilled to see their old favorites back on the small screen. More than 21 years after the hit show premiered, a spinoff is here with fan favorites Gil Grissom (William Petersen), Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox), David Hodges (Wallace Langham), and Jim Brass (Paul Guilfoyle) reuniting to follow the evidence. But fans of CSI: Vegas are hoping to see the return of more familiar faces from the original, namely Marg Helgenberger.

Marg Helgenberger portrayed Catherine Willows from 2000-2013. Marg left the show in season 12 when Willows decided to leave CSI for the FBI. In the first episode of the new series, Sara explains Catherine’s whereabouts to Brass: “Catherine has rolled out a red carpet, she would be here, you know that, if she could.” Brass replies, “Yeah, she’s got a little grandbaby in Dublin.”

So what's Marg Helgenberger up to now? The actress was slated to star alongside Manifest's Matt Long in a pilot for a new NBC show called Getaway, but according to Pop Culture, NBC pulled the plug on that pilot. Marg also starred in All Rise, a courtroom drama that was canceled by CBS but picked up for a third season by OWN. She hasn't signed on for that show due to her commitment to Getaway.

The actress caused a stir on Instagram when she posted a TBT photo of herself reading a newspaper on set.

She captioned the photo, "#tbt I keep reading about a #CSI reboot…#CatherineWillows."

Fans jumped to the comments section to express their excitement over Catherine's potential return. One wrote, "YES PLEASE!!! 🙌🙌🙌" and another said, "If Catherine Willows isn’t in the reboot, I don’t want it." One excited fan wrote, "OH MY GOD, IT'S HAPPENING! EVERYONE STAY CALM!!!"

We'll be keeping our fingers crossed that Catherine Willows finds her way back to CSI!
