A crash on Highway 101 at the base of the Cuesta Grade near Reservoir Canyon Road crossing halted traffic in both directions Friday afternoon.
Two vehicles — a black Subaru Outback and a Dodge Charger — were involved in the collision, which occurred in the southbound lanes of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol incident page.
A white Mitsubishi sport utility vehicle also pulled over to assist the two people involved, according to the CHP page.
According to the CHP incident page, both vehicles sustained “major damage,” and at least one person suffered major injuries.
The northbound No. 2 lane was still blocked as of 3:05 p.m., and flatbed trucks had been dispatched to remove the damaged vehicles, according to the CHP incident page.
By 3:47 p.m., all lanes had been cleared, but northbound traffic was still backed up through San Luis Obispo as far south as Los Osos Valley Road.
