If you wrack your brain and think back to all the rainbow-colored foods of childhood, behind Capri Suns, Cosmic Brownies, and Fruit Roll-Ups, you may remember Slice soda. The colorful, fruit-flavored cans started as a lemon-lime drink and quickly expanded to include flavors like mandarin orange, apple, grape, and cherry cola.

Slice faded out in the early 2000s, but like everything 90s, its coming back around again. PepsiCo let the drink's trademark expire years ago, the Chicago Tribune reports, but Chicago entrepreneur Mark Thomann recently decided to scoop them up and bring the soda back to life.

Instead of resurrecting the 90s drink as it was, Thomann plans to take the soda into the new millennium as a lower-sugar, lower-calorie drink. It will be a little sweeter than a normal flavored water, Thomann told the Tribune, but will use fruit juice to do so. Initial flavors will likely include grapefruit, berry, and lemon-lime.
