All Calgary Public Library locations closed Friday due to a cybersecurity breach that has compromised some systems, a spokesperson for the library said.

Calgary Public Library said the closures are to mitigate potential impact and are a proactive measure. All locations are shut down as of 5 p.m.

All servers and computer access will also be shut off in addition to the closure of library locations.

"Data security is a key priority for the Library and our security team is working diligently to determine the scope of the breach," a spokesperson for the library said in a release.

"We will provide timely updates of the Library's closures as more information becomes available."
