A Clinton, Utah dad is claiming that a casual weekend shopping trip took a violent turn after he took his young daughter into a men’s washroom.

Christoper Adams told KSL that he was shopping at Walmart for storage bins with his 7-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter. He says that when both children had to go to the washroom, he had to decide if he would take both children into the men’s bathroom, or leave his daughter outside while he went in with his son.

Like many parents would, he chose to take both kids into the bathroom. But that didn’t sit well with another store patron.

“This guy walks in and goes to the bathroom, the urinal,” Adams told KSL. “Then he just, like, turns to me and starts freaking out, dropping the ’(expletive),’ and what he was freaking out about was that my daughter was in the men’s bathroom.”

According to Adams, the man told him it was “inappropriate” to bring his daughter into the men’s room. Adams allegedly gave the man a “curt” reply and then tried to usher his kids out of the washroom.

“When I turned back around, I got sucker-punched right here,” Adams told KSL, pointing to his black eye. According to the Washington Post, he was also kicked.

Adams told Fox 13 that he was eventually able to pin down the man. According to the Washington Post, when police arrived on the scene, “the man was cited for disorderly conduct, and Clinton police told Fox they are still deciding whether to press assault charges.”

“He needs to be held accountable and be made an example so this behaviour doesn’t happen again,” Adams told Fox.
