Dallas officers shoot, wound man who waved gun at motorists, police say

The shooting occurred Tuesday afternoon in the 11000 block of Joaquin Drive, police say.

Dallas police officers shot and critically wounded a man who waved a gun at drivers and pointed the weapon at officers on Tuesday afternoon, the department said.

The shooting occurred about 3:20 p.m. in the 11000 block of Joaquin Drive in northeast Dallas, after police arrived to investigate reports of the man waving his gun at motorists.

The suspect refused to drop his weapon and officers fired shots that struck the man, Dallas Police Chief Mike Igo said in a news conference.

The man was taken to a hospital in “critical but stable condition,” Igo said. His name has not been released.

No officers were injured in the shooting.
