Central Croatia was rattled by a strong earthquake on Tuesday, with reports of considerable damage, numerous injuries and at least six deaths as a result.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the 6.4 tremor struck three kilometres west-southwest of Petrinja, registering at a depth of 10 km. The USGS says that this is the largest earthquake to occur in Croatia since 1880.
