Dany Heatley lands with Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks announced a one-year contract on Wednesday for veteran left wing Dany Heatley

Heatley, 33, joins his fifth NHL club and will reportedly earn $1 million US. It's a substantial pay cut for Heatley, who was coming off a six-year contract that paid $10 million in the first year and $5 million this past season.

Heatley had 12 goals and 16 assists in 76 regular season games with Minnesota, adding a goal and five assists in 11 playoff contests.

Born in Freilburg, Germany, the Calgary native has racked up 372 goals and 419 assists for 791 points in 863 career regular season games with stops also in Atlanta, Ottawa and San Jose.

He won the Calder Trophy with the Thrashers as top rookie in 2001-02, and twice scored 50 goals for the Senators.

Heatley has represented Canada on several occasions, winning gold with the 2010 Vancouver Olympic team.
