David Clarkson out 4-6 weeks with oblique injury
Well that didn't last long! David Clarkson and his hefty contract, obtained from the Toronto Maple Leafs in the run-up to the NHL Trade deadline in exchange for Nathan Horton, has already been knocked out of the Columbus Blue Jackets' line-up.
Clarkson will be sidelined four to six weeks due to a torn oblique muscle suffered in Tuesday night’s game against the Washington Capitals, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced Wednesday.
Clarkson, 30, collected 14 penalty minutes in three games with the Blue Jackets after being acquired by the club on February 26 from the Maple Leafs in exchange for right wing Horton. He has registered 112 goals and 84 assists for 196 points with 969 penalty minutes in 547 career NHL games, including 10-5-15 and 106 penalty minutes in 61 games this season.
Teammates on the injured list include centre Boone Jenner (stress fracture in back, has missed last 32 games); left wing Jeremy Morin (elevated heart rate, missed last 17); defenceman Ryan Murray (high ankle sprain, missed last 13); and right wing Jack Skille (shoulder, out remainder of season). Three other Blue Jackets are also sidelined.
