David Schwimmer offers refreshing advice on fatherhood on Jessie Ware's podcast
Former Friends star David Schwimmer has opened up about his relationship with his young daughter on Jessie Ware’s Table Manners podcast.
Schwimmer spoke about his nine-year-old daughter’s choice to be vegetarian as well as sharing his chats with her about religion and everything in between, including baking.
The 53-year-old was a guest on the show to promote his new Sky series, Intelligence.
The format of the podcast sees the host sit down to eat with the guest, so naturally the topic turned to food, where he revealed he was almost on The Great British Bake Off.
Speaking to Ware and her mum Lennie about his daughter’s vegetarianism, Schwimmer said: “She’s a self-declared vegetarian. When she was four or five, she just said ‘I’m a vegetarian’. I think she had been somewhere with her mum, where they were talking about vegetarianism and animal rights and I think it just hit her.
“Also, I think she just developed a taste for it. She never really enjoyed eggs. Her weakness, still today, is chicken nuggets.”
He said he buys and cooks his daughter vegan nuggets so she doesn’t have to miss out.

Schwimmer said he has also broached the subject of religion with his nine-year-old, and that he wouldn’t impose a bat mitzvah on her without her wanting it first.
“I wouldn’t insist on her doing that without her understanding what it is. If she wants it as a grown woman, an adult woman, once she’s educated and informed, it’s her decision and that’s how it should be.”

Schwimmer also revealed that he was almost on the celebrity version of The Great British Bake Off.
Although he couldn’t make his schedule work this time around, he doesn’t rule it out for the future.
“I was asked to do that and I almost did it this year for charity,” he said. “I really want to do it, but the schedule this year didn’t work out. But I really want to, I’m a big fan.”
“I’m not a big baker or anything, but I was determined for my daughter to bake her dream cake, which was this yellow sponge with fresh whipped cream and fresh strawberries. A big three-tier cake.”
If we needed more proof of his feminist credentials, he recently spoke out about the #MeToo movement, declaring that he doesn’t know one woman in his life who hasn’t been “harassed” in some way.
Speaking about Donald Trump, he said: “I was shocked and really dismayed when it was revealed that he’s got so many women accusing him of sexual assault and that he boasts on tape of grabbing women by the genitals.
“Most people decided that it didn’t matter. I would argue to those same people that if he had done that to their daughter or their wife or their sister, it probably would matter. I didn’t know how to explain to my daughter how the country elected someone who was boasting of committing sexual assault.”
