TOKYO (AP) — Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad criticized a new U.S.-led economic grouping on Friday, saying it is intended to isolate China, and won't benefit regional economic growth without Beijing. Whitehorse RCMP are asking for the public's help in finding a suspect in an assault near the Black Street stairs. In a news release Wednesday, the RCMP said that just after midnight on May 19, a male assaulted a female who was walking near the stairs. Police said the male "was interrupted and chased away by several others in the area." The RCMP arrived in the area shortly after the alleged assault. A man has died following a fatal collision on Highway 407 in Whitby. OPP officers were called to the scene at Lake Ridge Road, east of Toronto at 6 a.m. Friday morning. Paramedics found a 32-year-old man from Ajax dead in a ditch on the east side of Lake Ridge Road. He had been driving a black pickup truck. Police say it was a single vehicle collision. The Prague City Council ’s approved Mayor Zdenek Hrib’s proposal to revoke the honor bestowed in June 1945 on Soviet Marshal Ivan Stepanovic Konev. Konev led the Red Army forces that liberated large parts of Czechoslovakia from Nazi occupation in 1945 and also contributed to Prague's liberation. He died in 1973. Canada's budget deficit in fiscal 2021/22 shrank to C$95.57 billion ($75.02 billion) from C$314.00 billion in the previous year, as emergency spending on the COVID-19 pandemic eased, preliminary data from the finance ministry showed on Friday. Revenues for the fiscal year grew by 32.5%, mostly on higher tax revenues, while expenses were down 20.8%, as the government spent less on aid to businesses and individuals. On a monthly basis, Canada posted a deficit of C$25.75 billion in March, compared to a C$31.44 billion deficit in March 2021.
