DDG Announces Split From Halle Bailey: This 'Was Not Easy'
Halle Bailey and DDG have broken up after over two years together, the rapper announced via an Instagram Stories update on Thursday.
DDG — born Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. — addressed “friends and supporters” in a message where he revealed that the two have decided to go their separate ways following “much reflection and heartfelt conversations.”
“This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we’ve shared,” he wrote of his relationship with “The Little Mermaid” star.
He continued, “Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other. As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared.”

The rapper and singer first sparked relationship rumors nearly three years ago when they were spotted at Usher’s Las Vegas residency in early 2022.
The pair went public with their relationship when the rapper celebrated Bailey’s 22nd birthday that March before later hitting the red carpet with her at the 2022 BET Awards.
Bailey, after initially denying she was pregnant when fans claimed she had a “pregnancy nose” last November, confirmed the birth of their son, Halo, in late 2023 when she welcomed him in an Instagram post in January.
“Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my halo 🥰👼🏽 ✨the world is desperate to know you 😉🤣♥️,” wrote Bailey alongside a picture of her holding her son’s hand with a gold bracelet.
“My biggest blessing by far 👶🏽❤️ son son.. never been so in love 🥹 baby halo,” wrote DDG alongside a similar picture on social media at the time.”
Halo joined the two as they celebrated Bailey’s 24th birthday in Hawaii back in March. They’d eventually share snaps of their baby’s face for the first time after a vacation in Italy over the summer.
DDG and Bailey also faced breakup rumors back in April after they unfollowed each other on Instagram. A representative for the singer confirmed the couple were still together at the time.
DDG, in his Instagram message on Thursday, asked for “understanding and support” as the two “navigate this transition” following the split.
“Thank you for your love and encouragement,” he wrote.
