Dead man found as state worker conducts water survey in Sacramento River, sheriff says

A California Department of Fish and Wildlife official, conducting a routine water survey in the Sacramento River, found a dead body Sunday, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

A man washed up on the shores of the river in Courtland on the 11000 block of River Road, said Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a spokesman with the sheriff’s office.

Deputies, who were alerted to the call about 3:30 p.m., have not discovered any obvious signs of a suspicious death, Gandhi said.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will identify the man and determine a cause of death.
