Deadly shooting under investigation in a Macon neighborhood, sheriff’s office says

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Macon, Ga. on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024.

A woman was injured and a man died during a shooting incident Sunday in a Macon neighborhood, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched after a 911 call regarding shots fired around 11 p.m. on the 600 block of Williams St. East, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Deputies found a man “unresponsive with a gunshot wound,” the sheriff’s office said.

The victim, later identified as 33-year-old Braddricus Dewayne Hood, was pronounced dead on the scene by Coroner Leon Jones. Hood’s family was notified of his death.

A 58-year-old woman also had a gunshot wound.

Paramedics took her for treatment to a medical facility, where she was listed in stable condition Monday, deputies said.

Investigators were still working to determine what led to the shooting Monday.
