Death of man in Leslieville is now a homicide investigation, police say

Male pedestrian left with serious injuries near Yonge and Eglinton

A man in his 50s found dead on Monday afternoon is now the subject of a homicide investigation, police say.

A call was made to police just before 2 p.m. in the afternoon to the Queen Street East and Booth Avenue area.

The male was found bleeding and was pronounced dead on the scene. His death marks the 16th homicide of the year in Toronto

Police are not releasing details surrounding the man's age or identity, as next of kin has yet to be notified. A post-mortem has been scheduled.

Victor Kwong, media relations officer for the Toronto Police, says there are many reasons why a body may be bleeding after death and initially, investigators did not want to jump to a conclusion and deem it a homicide.

There is no suspect information and police continue to speak to people who live in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stopper at 416-222-TIPS.
