The RCMP Southeast District Major Crimes Unit is investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a Lee Creek, B.C., area residence on Saturday.

Investigators are treating her death as suspicious and say that the woman could be the victim of a possible shooting.

Just before 10 p.m. PT on Nov. 28, Chase RCMP responded to reports of shots fired at a residence in the 2500 block of Squilax Anglemont Road in Lee Creek, which is west of Chase, B.C.

Officers found the deceased woman when they arrived.

An adult male remains in police custody following his arrest at the residence Saturday night.

Investigators still have not been able to locate the victim's family members to advise them of her death. The BC Coroners Service is now also involved with the case.

Police say there is no threat to public safety in relation to the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Chase RCMP non-emergency line at (250) 679-3221 or for those who wish to remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
