Deep River man dead after Highway 17 crash
A Deep River man is dead after his pickup truck was hit by a tractor trailer on Highway 17 in Laurentian Valley Township Saturday morning.
It happened just after 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of B-Line Road and Highway 17.
Ontario Provincial Police said Brian Pratt, who was driving the truck, was turning onto Highway 17 from B-Line Road when he was struck by the tractor trailer in the intersection.
Pratt died at the scene.
The man driving the tractor trailer, 21-year-old Muraleetharam Paramanantham of Scarborough, was not injured. Neither was his passenger, 32-year-old Jahanzeb Baloch of Toronto.
Highway 17 was closed between Highway 41 and Round Lake Road. Detours were in place.
OPP are investigating.
