DeMar DeRozan not a fan of Raptors hype video
Before Toronto’s game against the Boston Celtics last Friday night, Sportsnet produced and aired a hype video aimed at amping up Raptors fans for the upcoming season.

Although DeMar DeRozan was brought up in the promo, it wasn’t only what was said directly about him that had the franchise legend unhappy — it was the way it addressed the stars before him that he didn’t enjoy.
The video touched upon numerous Raptors greats, including the recently traded DeRozan, Vince Carter, Chris Bosh and others, and the former had some thoughts about one of its messages.
“I felt some type of way, for sure,” DeRozan told The Athletic’s Sam Amick. “It wasn’t even for me, but for the previous guys. For Vince, T-Mac, to Chris, you can’t undermine anything that they did. Without them, there wouldn’t have been that team we had last year, two years ago, five years ago. There wouldn’t be the team that’s there now if it wasn’t for my time there, so don’t undermine the people that came before us. I just don’t like that.”
And the now-Spurs star makes a fair point. Tracy McGrady, Bosh and Carter all helped not only the Raptors franchise grow, but also the game of basketball in Canada as a whole. On the other hand, all did leave the city without delivering it a title.
