Demi Lovato and her fiancé, actor Max Ehrich, have broken off their engagement, according to People.

A source with knowledge of the situation confirmed the split to the outlet on Thursday. Reportedly, the two decided to call it quits so they could focus on their careers. News of the pair's breakup arrives only two months after they initially announced their engagement following a months-long, whirlwind romance.

"It was a tough decision, but Demi and Max have decided to go their separate ways to focus on their respective careers," said a source. "They have respect and love for one another and will always cherish the time they spent together."

Lovato and Ehrich's engagement came only months after the pair began dating and quarantining together amid the coronavirus pandemic. Lovato announced the happy news in July with gorgeous beachside photos of Ehrich's proposal. She also shared snapshots of her emerald-cut Peter Marco engagement ring.

"I knew I loved you the moment I met you. It was something I can’t describe to anyone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand but luckily you did too.. I’ve never felt so unconditionally loved by someone in my life (other than my parents) flaws and all," wrote Lovato at the time. "You never pressure me to be anything other than myself. And you make me want to be the best version of myself. I’m honored to accept your hand in marriage."

Lovato and Ehrich have yet to publicly address reports of their split.
