Demi Moore Says Dating Has ‘Not Really Been Where My Focus Is’ as She’s Been Concentrating on ‘My Work’
'The Substance' star discussed being 61 and having “independence and autonomy to really redefine where I want to go”
Demi Moore doesn't see dating as a priority at the moment.
Speaking with The Guardian in a new interview published on Saturday, Sept. 14, The Substance star revealed that her work has largely been her focus as her first new film in two years arrives in theaters this month.
"Do I date?" Moore asked, repeating the interviewer's question. "I don’t know. It’s not really been where my focus is, I’ll say that. Particularly in the past four, five years, my focus has been to lean into my work.”
Moore, 61, then said that she ultimately wanted to focus more on her craft after she “chose not to work" for a "long" time.
“It’s not about not being interested in dating," she added. "It’s more about realizing that I’m now in a place that’s much more about choice as opposed to feeling that there’s any kind of lack.”

After elaborating that she feels women are "in many respects hardier” and “stronger," Moore said that women are also "often" caretakers.
"So, I think as we get to that place of greater independence and freedom in our later years, I don’t know if we … seek to take on the responsibility of others. We have, for the first time, real room to move without the weight of others," she said, adding that she also enjoys "being with others" and has "full faith, because I think we’re a communal species.”

Moore's comments about dating come days after she revealed on the Today show on Monday, Sept. 9 that she's currently experiencing "the most exciting time of my life."
Following the Sept. 5 Toronto International Film Festival premiere of the new film, in which her character of Elisabeth Sparkle tries a black market drug to create a younger version of herself, Moore expressed her excitement for where she is today at 61.
"We are what the future is for women, and I look at having my daughters and I don't want [it] to ever be in their minds that there is an end," Moore said.

"To me, this is the most exciting time of my life. It is, I feel like my children are grown, I have the most independence and autonomy to really redefine where I want to go," she explained. "I don't know what that looks like or where it is, but I'm just excited to be living in it."
Moore is mom to three daughters — Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30 — who she shares with ex-husband Bruce Willis.
Speaking with PEOPLE about her latest body horror satire at the 2024 TIFF, the actress revealed that her daughters hadn't seen it yet, and that she wanted them to see it "with the big audience at the premiere."
