Demonstrations against Venezuela's President Maduro's government in Caracas

Anti-government protests raged on in Venezuela Thursday as students launched fresh marches after a day of flames and tear gas brought the death toll to 33.

Scores of students started marching in the sunshine in Caracas in the latest rallies against President Nicolas Maduro’s plan to rewrite the constitution. A day earlier police had fired tear gas and protesters hurled Molotov cocktails.

The public prosecution service said a policeman had died from a gunshot suffered during a protest in the western city of Carabobo, bringing the number killed in just over a month of unrest to 33. (AFP)
