Dense fog prompts weather advisory for Calgary

Dense fog has blanketed Calgary, prompting a weather advisory for the city.

Environment and Climate Change Canada warns dense fog will hang around parts of Calgary until Sunday afternoon.

The advisory indicates that some areas have near-zero visibility due to the fog, which can make travelling hazardous.

There have been no fog-related flight delays, a spokesperson for Calgary Airport Authority said Sunday morning, noting visibility is expected to improve throughout the day.

Edmonton International Airport experienced some flight delays Saturday due to heavy fog.

Some parts of Calgary may dip below 0 C Sunday morning, which could lead to patchy freezing drizzle, the weather authority said.

There's a 60 per cent chance of precipitation, according to the forecast. Temperatures are predicted to rise to 3 C throughout the afternoon.

The sun should return Monday with a high of 9 C.
