Boyfriend arrested after woman dies from south Sacramento stabbing, Sheriff’s Office says
A man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing death of his girlfriend who died at a hospital in south Sacramento on Sunday.
Deputies were called to a report of a stabbing around 6:30 a.m. after a woman was taken to Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento Medical Center with stab wounds, said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Amar Gandhi. The woman died at the hospital, he said.
Homicide detectives and deputies learned the stabbing likely occurred on the 6300 block of Leola Way in the unincorporated Lemon Hill neighborhood and began their investigation at the home.
“Based on their investigation, detectives determined that the victim’s 29-year-old boyfriend, Paul Barclay, was responsible for her death,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a Monday update.
Barclay was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of murder. He’s expected to be arraigned in Sacramento Superior Court on Tuesday. He is not eligible for bail, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office expected to release the woman’s identity in the coming days.
The incident followed an unrelated shooting in the Lemon Hill area that left one man dead Friday night, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
