Derelict vessel owner Tracey Dodds charged with sexual assault

Coast guard to tow derelict vessel Farley Mowat from Shelburne wharf

Nova Scotia scrap metal dealer and derelict vessel owner Tracey Donald Dodds is before the courts for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman and threatening to kill her.

The 60-year-old Wolfville man is also charged with unlawful confinement, extortion to obtain sexual acts, assault and drug trafficking. The offences allegedly happened between Feb. 13 to March 7, 2017.

Dodds was arraigned in Kentville provincial court on Monday. He was due back in court Wednesday for a bail hearing. The complainant's name is banned from publication.

Last year, Dodds, the owner of the derelict anti-sealing vessel MV Farley Mowat, was jailed 20 days and fined refusing to remove the ship from Shelburne harbour.
