In my humble opinion, Meghan Markle is one of the only people in the entire world who could theoretically do aaaanything she wanted for her birthday. And with that great power comes, well, great responsibility. TBH if I were in her shoes, my Leo rising would fully take over and I'd do something like pay Netflix an egregious amount of $$$ to release the final season of Stranger Things before the year ends. But, hey, that's just me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Meghan, on the other hand? She just wants to spend special days with her closest family and friends, and for that she is probably a better person.

A rep for the Sussexes told Us Weekly on August 4 that“the duchess is enjoying a lovely birthday this year with her family and dear friends.” Similarly, a spokesperson for Meghan confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that she was, “spending the day celebrating with family and close friends.” Though we don't know for sure who the Suits alum spent her special day with, we can probs guess the group included her husband Prince Harry and the couple's two kids, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1.

Some members of the British royal family, for their part, took the opportunity to send the duchess well wishes all the way from the U.K., including Prince William and Kate Middleton and Prince Charles and Camila. “Wishing a happy birthday to The Duchess of Sussex,” wrote the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge alongside a photo of Meghan smiling and wearing the iconic all-white Dior outfit she donned at Queen Elizabeth ll’s Platinum Jubilee earlier this summer.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, for their part, also shared a message to their daughter-in-law via the Clarence House social media pages, writing, “Happy birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!” with a similar image of Meghan.

Though the messages were not exactly long, there *have* been reports that Charles and Camilla's emotional meeting with Archie and Lilibet during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations seemingly brought the family closer together. After all, it was the first time Charles had seen Meghan's eldest in some time and the very first time he met Lili.

“I think a lot of people don't see Charles as a doting grandfather, but he absolutely is,” royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight in June. “He's spent more time in recent years with the Cambridge grandchildren and he's very, very keen to have a close relationship with Meghan and Harry's children.”

According to Katie, Charles deeply treasures “these times with his grandchildren” and remains “quite sad that there aren't enough of them” since Harry and Meghan's move to California in 2020. “I do know that Charles absolutely wants to start healing that fractured relationship with Harry,” she added, noting the private meeting was likely “very much the beginning” of the prince's effort to “[pave] the way for some more conciliatory talks.” Très tender 🥺.
