'The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical' premiere: Vanessa Williams, Lily Collins stun
The stars were out for the anticipated premiere of "The Devil Wears Prada" musical in London, including a member of the royal family.
Celebrities including Lily Collins and Elizabeth Hurley, fashion icons Donatella Versace and Betsey Johnson, and the film and musical's ostensible muse, Anna Wintour, were in attendance, as well as the musical's lead, Vanessa Williams.
The musical stars Williams as the "Devil" herself, Miranda Priestly, originated by Meryl Streep in the hit 2006 film, based on the 2003 novel by Lauren Weisberger, a former assistant to Wintour.
The cast also includes a swath of theater talent, including Georgie Buckland as Andy (originated by Anne Hathaway) and Amy Di Bartolomeo as Emily (originated by Emily Blunt).
The musical's music was composed by Elton John, who adds to his theater composition credits including "The Lion King" and "Tammy Faye."
British fashion model, DJ and Scottish noble Charteris family member Lady Mary Charteris, and model and British royal family member Lady Amelia Windsor also attended the premiere, along with Collins' husband and film director Charlie McDowell, Hurley's model son Damian Hurley, and theater and film actor Luke Evans.
"The Devil Wears Prada" is the latest 2000s film to be reinvited for theater treatment, after "Mean Girls" and "Legally Blonde."
"The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical" is currently running at Dominion Theatre on London's West End, with tickets on sale through 2025.
Williams told USA TODAY in September that the "intention is to come to Broadway" at some point.
"(The West End version is) a different show than if anyone saw it in Chicago," she said at the time. "So I'm really excited to show the audience what it's turned into. And I know Elton is very happy."
