A boil water order in Dieppe has been lifted after a water-main break earlier in the week interrupted water service and traffic in the Dover Road and Amirault Street area.

The order went into effect on Monday for all residents from 2135 Amirault St. to the city limits toward Memramcook, as well as all residents of Dover, Bayview, Freda, Kristian, Marco, J.F. Bourgeois, Vézina, Raphaël, Carter and Joanne streets, and Dover Estates.

On Thursday, the city issued a statement advising residents to take specific measures now that the order is lifted. Residents are advised to:

  • Run tap water for 10 to 15 minutes for interior and exterior cold-water faucets.

  • Run tap water for at least 15 minutes for a 40-gallon (151 litres) hot-water tank and at least 30 minutes for an 80-gallon (303 litres), or larger, hot-water tank.

  • Flush water dispensers from refrigerators with at least one litre of water before consuming.

  • Discard ice from automatic ice dispensers that was made during the boil order, and get rid of any ice made during the 24 hours after the order is lifted to ensure there is no contamination.
