An initiative first started by the Municipality of Kincardine, Kincardine Chamber of Commerce and the downtown BIA during the winter of 2020 and designed to lighten spirits during the cold nights of the pandemic, is running once again.
Leave the Light On invites residents and businesses to light up their homes, offices and public spaces with lights and décor and leave them shining until the end of March 2022.
Once the decorating is done, the address of the property can be entered onto an interactive map through the Kincardine.ca website. When the entry is complete, pins will mark the location, creating a route for residents to follow and enjoy each display.
“As the pandemic continues to force the cancellation of activities, and the days are short and dark, this winter we’re encouraging you ALL to #leavethelighton,” said Chamber of Commerce executive director Ashley Richards, part of the team that brought the initiative to Kincardine in 2020.
“We plan to illuminate this great municipality and we want you to be a part of the safe harbour we are proud to call home. The holidays may feel a little different, but we want to ensure that they look better than they ever have.”
Here is just a sampling of some of the best and brightest displays in the community. Visit https://www.kincardine.ca/en/play-and-explore/leave-the-light-on.aspx for a detailed map of displays.
